If you have an iphone, and you want it to work properly and easily, it is VERY important that you make sure your software and apps are up to date. I personally plug my phone into my computer every night, update all my apps and sync my phone. If you are not syncing your phone with a computer you are not backing up, or updating your software/firmware for the phone. You also should check pretty often for app updates which will always fix bugs and add improvements to your apps.
Not doing proper maintenance on your phone is like not changing the oil in your car, or getting tires rotated etc. You have to stop usually once a week and get gas, No? Maintain your phone!
So for any mild phone problems your first actions should be:
- Make sure computer software is up to date
- make sure your itunes software is up to date
- make sure your iphone software is up to date
- sync, backup and reset phone.
- turn phone off for 30 seconds and back on again.
How to retrieve Songs/Photos from iphone ( like in the event of a computer crash):
It will require you to purchase some $20 software. IMO totally worth it in order to be able to retrieve your songs, tv shows and apps, contacts etc. You will have to personally decide if it is worth it or not. I am sure there are some work arounds if you wanna go that route. Phoneview is the easiest and quickest solution. Senuti.com is also an option, though not as thorough.

I would advise AGAINST purchasing an AppleCare warranty ( $99). What they should actually call that is Apple Tech/Phone Support plan, because really that is all it is good for. It will not cover you in the case of theft, damage, broken screens etc. Your phone comes with a factory warranty for a year as it is.
If you would like an actual warranty, consider buying one from SQUARETRADE.
$93 for 2 years of coverage with a $50 deductible.You can pay monthly or all at once. I have no personal experience with squaretrade but have heard good things.

- Turn off WiFi
- Turn on auto-lock for the screen
- Turn off the equalizer
- Turn off notifications
- Turn off Location Services
