It is a FREE PDF that you can drag into itunes and read on any "i" device via ibooks. It discusses every aspect of the ipad and all available accessories. Fantastic resource from iLounge.com They put these out each year.

Ipad Wallpapers

Ipad Cases:

  • ROSS ( dress for less stores) carries a good choice of Ipad as well as netbook cases for around $10. That is much cheaper than the Apple store so I recommend checking those out first.
  • The Apple Cover that is sold for ipad did not impress me. It is not easy to take on and off ( which you must do to dock the ipad) and it can cause it to overheat when outside. Not to mention it's over priced!
  • Happy Owl Studios offers an awesome Clutch for women or wallet for men that embodies the ipad as well as anything else you need. You can CLICK HERE to see pics or purchase.
  • Travel Kit Plus by Incase $60. Consider this like a  laptop bag but for the ipad since it carries the ipad and all its gear/chargers/accessories.

Ipad Accessories:

Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit $29 ( adapters that will allow you to move pictures from your camera or iphone to the ipad)

Apple Ipad Dock $29  ( I would recommend either this or the keyboard dock but not both unless you just want both). We keep the dock plugged in so we have an easy place to drop and charge the ipad, as well as our iphones.

Apple Ipad Keyboard Dock $69. This makes typing a dream if you are typing some long emails and such but its nice because it doesn't have to be connected in order to type. You can read a great article HERE at Macworld about the debate between a bluetooth keyboard and the ipad keyboard to see which one is better for you.

This guy has written an amazing article full of apps that are great for bloggers. Click HERE to read all about that...

Ipad Apps for Kids:

Ipad Apps I Enjoy:

**Apps that are clickable will take you to my full review of them**

ibooks (free) - Apple's version of a book store like itunes but for books. If you cant find what you are looking for here, you can always check out the Kindle store on that app.

Kindle (Free) - Did you have a kindle before ipad? No worries! The Kindle app allows you to transport your books etc to the ipad seamlessly and syncs up with your iphone too.

Instapaper $4.99 - worth every penny. I use this a ton. It has plug ins for twitter, your browser etc that allow you to "clip" articles you wanna read later and also allows you to organize them.

ebay (Free) - Love the way items display on this app

craigsphone (free) - Craigslist app that looks better on ipad than it does on your computer!

Todo $4.99 - Turns your ipad into a Franklin Planner (almost :)

Blogpress $2.99 - Allows you to blog on blogger from ipad

Netflix (free) - if you are a Netflix member you can stream movies straight to your ipad

Bills for ipad $.99 - Great way to organize and keep up with monthly household bills.

MobileRSS $4.99 - RSS reader that is smoother than google reader and will sync with google reader so set up is a breeze and content stays synced.

Perfect Web Browser $2.99 - Another browser that allows you to have tabs and swap back and forth.

Echofon (Free and Paid versions) Twitter app that I really love for iphone and ipad

ePrint $2.99 ( allows you to print from ipad. try out the free version first to see if your printer is compatible)

Moodboard $4.99 and Free versions - Allows you to create moodboards. Interesting software.

Zinio (free)- Magazine App for ipad. I will really love it when all of my favorite magazines go electronic so that I can cut down on the clutter and save and organize articles without a scanner !

1. Blogpress - An app making it easy to compose quick blogs. It needs a few upgrades but so far it is the best blogging app I have found.

2. ebay - This app is actually better than the site.

3. Friendly - makes browsing Facebook much easier.

4. Slingplayer - The app that goes with my birthday slingbox. A TV lover's dream

5. Instapaper - This app is really brilliant. One of my alltime favorites. It is basically an account full of any news stories you add so that when you wanna read that link in an email or from a blog you just add it to your instapaper account and they are all here waiting on you when you have the time.

6.DirecTV - If you have DirecTV this app is awesome! A combination between a touch screen remote and TV guide.

7. Instagram  - a fun photo editing app

8. Windowshop - Again better than the site for browsing Amazon (IMO)

9. Reeder - A great app for google reader! I only wish someone would make an app that allowed you to comment on blogs while in the reader ... they would be RICH!

10. Netflix - You can subscribe to just a streaming account these days and stream DVD's right to your ipad. If you buy the dongle you can also connect the ipad to your TV for watching on the big screen.

11. LoopVideo - I use this for looping piggles TV shows when we go on long car rides!

12. Echofon - My twitter app that  I use on ipad

13. Kindle - I use this for accessing all the books I bought on my kindle, and I love it because it is like a kindle with a backlight! It also has better book choices and cheaper ones that the ibooks app. It will sync with your iphone as well so if you are out and forgot one or the other you can just open the app and pick right up where you left off. It has an integrated dictionary and allows you to highlight which I love.

14. Relax Melodies - This is a REALLY cool sounds machine app. The app is free initially with upgrades for more features if you want them. It is hard to explain but you gotta get it and try it out! Great music for Yoga and babies!

15. Yoga HD - This is a new app and I will write a full review of it soon, but so far it is the best exercising app I have ever tried. It's like having a personal instructor in your living room and it gives you the ability to create your own work out.
 16. HBO GO - Free App. Read my full review with screen shots HERE.

Ipad Apps for Kids:

My friend and fellow baby momma CB told me about this nifty iPad app for babies called "Baby Rattle Toy" there is a free version and a 99 cent version. It shows beautiful bright colors and makes fun noises just by touch so it is really easy for a young babe

Ipad Quick Tips:

Here are some short cuts and information you may not know yet!

If you double click the home button it will bring up a quick scrolling dock. From there if you slide to the left you can adjust your brightness and lock your screen if you wish. These are both helpful and frequently used gestures so its much easier to do it this way than going into settings each time because you don't have to leave the app you are working in to do this.

You can go into settings and change the function of that little switch on the right side of the ipad. It can either be used to mute the ipad or to lock the screen. I use it for screen locking because I like to read in bed and this keeps the page from rotating every time I move.

Also if you hold down the right corner of one of your apps they will all start to jiggle, this means you can re-arrange them. I like to customize my dock with the most used apps that way I don't have to flip through pages looking for them. So put your top 5 Here.

and last but not least I have an IPAD tab at the top of my blog where I try to corral all things ipad. Check there for some of my other app recommendations.

Getting VIDEOS & DVDS on your iPad:

This is a quick tutorial on how to get your own Dvd's or movies into iTunes so that you can put them on your ipad or iphone. This is only for MAC computers, as I do not own a PC .... ( sorries)

Before watching the tutorial video you will need to :

- Download Mac the Ripper (free Software) http://mactheripper.en.softonic.com/mac
- Download Handbrake ( free software) http://handbrake.fr/

Step 1:
Insert the DVD into your DVD Drive. If it starts playing just hit escape. We don't need it to play, just need it in the drive.

Step 2: Open up "Mac the Ripper" software from your applications folder ( Finder >Applications>mac the ripper) and wait for it to recognize your DVD. Notice where the DVD will be saved to once it is done ripping.
Orange arrows point to the location where your Rip will be stored and also the status bars showing progress.

Step 3: Now that you have ripped the movie , you should find a saved copy on your computer. I have mine saved to the desktop for ease of finding ....( it will look like a file folder)

Step 4: Open "Handbrake " software and click on "source" and find the file you just saved to your desktop. You can choose the size fall in the right margin. I always choose "ipad".
Then click "start".

Once this starts it will take about 40 minutes or so. When it is done it will pop up a notification for you. It will also create a video file on your desktop. Take that file and drag and drop it into itunes.

You will see in itunes it saving there. You can press "command" and "i" to get to the info screen and change the title or other info.

Once you are done and you know it is in  itunes, you can click and drag all the files we used to the trash.

See a Demo Video Below:

Email me if you have any questions! grizas@gmail.com
