Sister's 1st Birthday!

Little princessa is officially one. It snuck up on me like WOAH. Although I love planning and hosting adult parties, i always really struggle with kid birthday parties!
I vowed this year to do better, or at least try and I think I succeeded. Didn't want anything over the top, but at the least, I wanted some great pics, cause we all know Sister doesn't give a rip.

All my family came in town and Erik's siblings and their families came over and we grilled out in the back yard with mini sliders, some fun and interesting carbonated sodas and some french macaroons.
Sidebar: Let me tell y'all about some macaroons. They might be pretty, and they are def pricey, but they are NOT tasty. GROSS in fact, or bland .. IMO. Cupcakes are way more fun and better use of the calories. I'm just saying.

Anyway, in true mom fashion I picked up my girl some pink plates and a birthday hat from party city the day of the big event. She actually wore the hat for a while
which I was pumped about cause it is hilariously cute.

The balloons were my favorite decoration and I think I will have them at all parties from here on out. More is def more in this scenario. I ordered 20 but next time will get 30 to account for the breakage or fly aways.

Sister was super annoyed with everything at first, and was fussy and then I stuck some icing in her mouth and it was like the heavens opened up. She was SO into it.
And then, I made a totally idiotic #momfail mistake by having her candle in the cake lit while we sang. She dove her face into the cake and almost got burned and def got scared and cry cried.

CAKE! Glorious cake!  Next time you see all those Kate Spade bags and things talking about eating cake, picture this:
Satisfied customer:

brother took a minute off his water slide to come over and make sure she wasn't getting anything he didn't get was having fun.
(remember when strike through was the jam?!)

This is how she washed off her cake face.

So now on to the more important details! A week after Sister's birthday she decided to CRAWL. She has been uninterested in moving or doing anything for herself  until now so I am super excited to see her moving around.
She also. has over night become SO HAPPY. It is the weirdest thing. I noticed it, but didn't really say anything about it and thought maybe she was just having a good day or 2. Then my mom noticed in pictures that she was smiling a lot lately, and then the ladies at the day care place mentioned it to me.
Her diet has changed some lately and I also weened her that week so I am thinking she must have some sort of food allergy still going on that bothers her and this past week or 2 she has not been exposed to whatever it is. My first guess is eggs. I am going to ask the pedi about testing her for that later because it is such a DRAMATIC difference in her behavior and personality. She is reminding me so much of Fenn as a baby now with her giggling and smiling and happy go luckyness.

Sister is almost 23lbs on last weigh in.
Wearing 18-24 mos clothes
( I will update this when I get the correct stats from her 1 year check up)

She has some gorgeous eyes and long eye lashes that get her lots of attention when she goes out on the town.

She still LOVES her big brother SO much. She lights up and smiles every time he comes into the room. In fact she gets really excited any time she sees one of us, even if you just walk out of the room and come back in.

She pays much more attention to TV than Fenn ever did at this age. She just seems more aware or interested in all her surroundings and happenings than he was at 1.

She babbles a good bit and is extremely ticklish and will laugh and laugh if you even pretent to tickle her.

She loves carbs like her momma. Ritz crackers make her start kicking her feet!

Still struggling with using a cup. she wont hold it or try and drink by herself. She also does not like to touch certain foods , like bananas. She can feed herself fine , but is selective about what she will actually feed herself, and if I'm not careful she will do the swiper wipe across the high chair tray and feed it all to Ralphie.

Sleep is still her strong suit! She generally goes to bed at 6:20pm and wakes up at 6:30am. She will happily play in her bed with those jellycat bunnies until we are all up and moving around.  She naps at about 9-10 and then again for 2 hours in the afternoon about 12:30-2:30.

I love dressing her, even still though most days she wears footless zipper pajamas . Does anyone know a cool brand other than Hanna Andersson? Its hard to find prints that I like or that are not so busy.

This last month was a hard one on sister because she survived:
- Getting bonked in the head by a door at the play place with a quarter sized goose egg/bruise on her forehead
- Fenn sneaking into the baby area ( also at the play place) and stuffing her mouth full of felt balls while she was sleeping. Thankfully the workers caught him sneaking out and were able to get all the balls out of her mouth without her choking.
- Then she got a virus with a sore throat and 104.5 Fever
-  and then the the birthday cake/candle incident

To say making the transition from SAHM back to working again has been challenging would be the understatement of the year. But that is another post, for another day. With a LOT more words. and less cute pictures.

So Happy Birthday to my happy little daughter! She is such a blessing and we thank God daily for her!
