3 Weeks Post Partum Body

Things are getting back to normal, and even my linea negra is fading, hopefully just in time for a beach trip in August cause baby gut or no, I am wearing a bikini! ha
My stomach looks flatter in these pictures than it actually is in real life.

Overall I still have an extra 15lbs on me and my waist is only down like 2 " from when I was pregnant. How is that even possible? I dont know but I measure it every week just like I did when I was pregnant and that is how it is. I don't know when I will be able to wear jeans again :(

Anyway slow progress is still progress! ( this post is a full week late.. I am struggling to keep up these days!)

Anna Clarke 3 Weeks : Reflux, Gas, and Milk Allergy YIKES.

Anna Clarke is 3 weeks Old now and I am starting to crack her code. She is a tough little cookie who takes more work than Fenn ever did.  She continues to be as different as possible from her bro just like her pregnancy was!
She does not like the swing, or the bouncy seat, or basically anything that is not a warm human body. I attribute this to her stomach issues because she likes being upright. My KKG lil Sis recommended on facebook that I start wearing her to free up my hands some and that was a great idea. I bought a Moby wrap for Fenn but he was always too big and heavy to wear. She LOVES it and generally goes right to sleep when I put her in it, and it allows me to use my hands for fixing dinner for Fenn and stuff like that. She is strapped in there now as I type this!

She seems to slowly be getting better with her tummy issues. Much less miserable looking faces but she does have some reflux that bothers her. She is finally getting to where she will sleep for longer periods and where I can ( sometimes) put her down for a few minutes without her crying. Today, for the 1st time EVER she fell asleep in her bouncy chair, and that my friends was huge!

** Here is a pic of her sad and covered in spit up. It soaked her outfit and made her eyes water :( **

I have been trying Gripe Water, Gas Drops, and " Tummy Calm" which are all little drops that you give infants to help with gas issues. All are natural except for the gas drops. I can not really tell that they make too much of a difference right now, but if any of them are working it is the " Tummy Calm" ones from Walgreens. ( word to the wise, these are half the price if you order from Amazon rather than buy in Walgreens)

The no Dairy diet is slowly getting better, but mostly diets are torture. Thankfully Jessica Rigby sent me a dairy free cookbook tat she had used  and it is awesome. It covers ever aspect of no dairy diet that you need, like what it is, why and then some store bought snacks you can eat as well as recipes in every section from soups to desserts. I have been surviving off their brownie cookies made with ( of all things) avocado and their fake pizza made with a tofu pate. Hungry yet? HA

FYI: Clif Bars are dairy free, Chicken Salad from Panera Bread, and a few dishes from Pei Wei and most asian foods are OK!
THIS is a great article on why we should not eat dairy ( if you are interested) kind of ironic since I just finished an ad campaign for MILK that I had to post on Facebook several times. :) I think I started seeing a difference in AC around 8-10 days of no dairy in my diet. I will likely do a blog post on this by itself because their are so many foods to cover just incase anyone else has to join in this misery.

I still have a really hard time understanding how a person with a brand new digestive system who eats nature's most perfect food could have issues like this..

Also, I don't think I have mentioned before but I get D-MER when breastfeeding. I had it with Fenn too and never knew it was an actual condition, just thought it was my hormones acting crazy. I found this when researching reflux!  It is oddly comforting to understand the WHY this happens now,and what is really interesting is that it is so much worse when I am out without the baby. I guess that is nature's way of keeping moms close to their offspring! It comes on very quickly and stops as soon as the milk lets down.

And I still have not done a post on her nursery because I cant find the flash for my camera. RAH. But until then here is an iphone quick pic:
When Fenn was born I chose a frog as his little animal and ironically he got lots of frog tyep stuff, and with her, I chose a bunny rabbit and the same thing happened! She has gotten bunny animals and lovies   etc as gifts just as a coincidence!

Items I am loving Post baby

First up is the sleep cami's and even the pajamas in cool nights fabric from Soma. I think I am not old enough to shop in Soma, but I love everything they have. I get terrible night sweats the first few weeks after birth and these soft moisture wicking pajamas are so helpful and the sleep cami's are perfect for nigh nursing.

Total Baby iPhone App. Simply the BEST app. I used this with Fenn and am so thrilled to see the updates they have added since then like a log for pumping breast milk., where you can mark where it is stored and delete when it gets used so you will always have an idea of how much you have on hand. It also records diapers, sleeps, nursing, doctor trips, vaccines, anything you can think of! oh and the charts and graphs...  and backing up to a server AND sharing info via wifi sync with your partners phone. AWESOME.

Pottery Barn Kids Diaper Basket.
I regret never buying this with Fenn because it keeps all the essentials organized and is easy to tote all around the house. We never just stay in the nursery so this makes things much easier.  Note: it does not come monogrammed saying " Diapers" ha I totally thought it did and was disappointed when it was plain  lol.

Leading Lady Nursing Bras
I never bought good nursing bras with Fenn either and now know how worth it they are and this is my favorite one because of its comfort ( no underwire), soft fabric and built in pads that prevent leaks onto your clothes. Nothing says sexy like leaking breast milk.....

Kardashian Style Pajamas from Target. As I mentioned before, I am living in pajamas these days, and I love this style that reminds me of what Kourtney Kardashian is always wearing in the show.  I have these from Target and I love the print.

Nursing Mommas, I really liked this brand of nipple salve, as opposed to lanolin for lots of reasons. Bamboo washable nursing pads are also awesome.

Love these babydoll style work out tops from Target!

The Moms on Call Book and App. My girlfriend Emily tried to get me on board with this when Fenn was 3 mos old and I was too stubborn to listen, but now I know better! HA The book has really great basic advice and I love that it is broken down into sections so you can just reference the question you may have like " Reflux" etc. Also MOC is the only resource I have found for helping create a schedule for more than one kid.

Anna Clarke is 2 Weeks Old!

Our little princessa is 2 weeks old already!  I forgot  how quickly these 1st few weeks fly by!
Here are her stats:

Weight: 10lbs 2oz ( 94%)
Height : 22"   (99%)
Head: 14.57  (93%)

Diaper Size : 1 ( I will start using our cloth diapers around 3 months, depending on her size) and let me just say that I LOVE the Costco diapers! They have the indicator strip just like the pampers that I loved so much but are MUCH cheaper and come in boxes of 132!

Clothing Size : Mostly 0-3 months. 6 months in some things like RL or Kissy Kissy.

Sleeping : We started off great with only getting up twice to nurse at night , generally around 2am, and 6 am, but that all changed when she starting having tummy issues. Last night I got up with her every 2 hours.

She has been less happy than baby Fenn was, which I expected because he was the fattest, happiest baby ever, but after a while, she seemed like she was in pain, scrunching up and her face would turn red. she would be asleep and do that and cry out and wake up and she was hard to get back down after nursing most every time.. Just overall something seemed not right and I was expecting it to be reflux but at her 2 week appointment I asked them to scan her ( poop) diaper and check for allergies since we were there, and it was actually positive for blood in her stool which is generally caused by an allergy to dairy/soy in my breast milk.
I eat very little dairy as is because I think I am lactose intolerant but certain things don't make me sick like cheese and butter, but with her it is not lactose but actually a protein that she is sensitive to, so anything with milk in it period has to be cut from my diet.
Kinda depressing, no more Fudge Rounds etc...

On the up side I guess I will be super healthy and lose weight faster..  In the mean time I have realized that work out clothes are the perfect post baby uniform! Where else can you find socially acceptable elastic waist bands and tshirts/tanks?

Big Brother :
He is still doing well over all. He only had 2 accidents in his unders since she was born and they were both in week one, ,,,So I think we might be safe on potty regression. He loves her a little too much IMO and tries to kiss her and get on her constantly and is too rough. He also tries to make sure she is not stealing his spot light. It is sweet that he loves her and wants to kiss her but I kinda wish he was ignoring her right now, and it does make my momma heart sad to see him act out because of the big change.
He has picked up some new behaviors like screaming as loud as he can, for fun...  not minding, asking me to play with him ALL.DAY.LONG. and he used to be the most independent player ever, and he now will say " mommy turn" when he wants me to do something like read his bedtime stories instead of Erik or my mom etc generally because he sees me with the baby.

Biggest Challenge of Parenting 2 so far:
All of the above. The newborn stuff is pretty breezy this time around, even with a baby who never wants to be put down, but managing my older boy and keeping him entertained is the hardest part of the equation right now.

And even on my hardest day/moment I remind myself how BLESSED we are to have these 2 healthy, lively perfect children. I thank God every day for that.

Tip Tuesday: Neat App for Printing Iphone Pictures!

I don't know about you guys, but the majority of our life/memories are on my iphone. It is just too handy to capture those moments. Erik and I both worry sometimes though that we don't have enough paper pictures, and that our kids might really want those one day.
The problem is, somehow I just never get around to getting them printed. Some genius woman ( of coarse a woman thought of this!!) came up with an app that will load your iphone pics and deliver them to you each month, in a book where you can pull them out for scrapbooking etc or keep them in those books for easy organization and storage. I LOVE this idea, and it's so cheap!
How much you ask? $3 a month for 100 pictures!

Notice the Date/Location printed on the tab of each pic:

Here is what the book looks like!

You can watch a Demo Video Here:

If you wanna give it a try you can Click Here to sign up and get the Free app
If you use the Promo Code: iGROOVE you will get your 1st one free which is a great way to test it out!

Postpartum "Leftovers" Week 1

A little late in getting this posted but... priorities and all...

My recovery has been so much better this time around! I was feeling pretty great until my hormones went crazy. I have terrible night sweats and bouts of crying over anxiety with the kids.. silly things but it still brings me to tears. For instance, today I tried to let Fenn watch Monsters, Inc. the Disney movie because I thought it would be fun and lots of his peers are into it, and he told me about 3 minutes into it " Turn it off mommy" in a sad little voice and hid his head behind a blanket. He was so serious and still for about 5 minutes afterward and it just broke my heart that I had scared him with a stupid cartoon movie! Arghhh.

Week one didn't make much progress on the ole bod. I lost about 15 lbs and still have about 21 left to lose. Belly still pretty round :( and boobs are huge compared to normal. The good news is big ole boobs even out the big ole belly and give me some definition in the waist area.

I had 2 people ask me when I was due this week ( baby was with my mom and Fenn was with me in the store).. so that was fun. I purchased some shape wear but it didn't make a huge difference and I don't know that I am that dedicated to the cause..  I don't really remember this part of life after Fenn, and I attribute that to being in so much pain and so sleep deprived it was not important how I looked then.

So I have been on the look out for dresses or clothes that fit my new chest size and make it easy to breast feed and hopefully hide the leftovers.. and that has been a challenge, and this has been the WORST month for our budget since I started in January. I realize that when you don't like the way you look, it is easy to spend tons of money trying to fix it. HA  This month I have decided to extend myself a little grace and focus on things that are more important than the way I look or my clothes, like getting 2 kids on schedule! ha  Wish me luck. More on that later.

A Big thanks to everyone who has brought us dinner and/or baby gifts and big brother gifts. Y'all are so thoughtful and sweet! Fenn of course has really enjoyed the attention and package openings!
