This Weekend I Jailbroke My Iphone 3Gs

In preparation of selling some older model iphones that belong to my family members I started practicing erasing data, restoring and jailbraking this weekend. After realizing that it has become SO.MUCH.EASIER. than it once was, I jailbroke my own 3Gs iphone and it was a piece of cake!
I am gonna show pictures so that there is no misconception.
Jailbreaking
did not take away anything I had to start with, it simply added an extra app store, one that is not policed by apple so I have a little freedom there.
I can still sync with Itunes and do everything that I always have.
Click here for easy step by step tutorial on jailbreaking (scroll down to may 6 and read there)

The main functions I gained from Jailbreaking were :

  • The ability to add more options for ringtones on Text messages. This has been driving me crazy for quite some time.
  • The ability to tether my iphone to my ipad, which means get the 3G service on the ipad without paying additional fees or owning the 3G model of the ipad. Click here for Tutorial
  • Creating folders ( which apple will release next month). You can see a screen shot of that below. I have 2 folders in that pic, one for games and one for travel apps. Great way to stay organized and navigate your phone easily.

a look at inside the travel apps folder:

  • Having 5 Dock Icons (instead of 4) Here I have 5 red arrows pointing out having items in dock rather than 4:

Getting Ready for Memorial Day !

I love hosting a good porch party for any holiday, but especially patriotic ones. I have a big 4th party every year. This year we have no memorial weekend plans, but we will be hosting a fun cook out on Monday after a day at the Holder's pool. Below are some fun decor and food ideas. I would love to hear if any of you have a fun recipe or decoration to share!

These glass outdoor oil burners are awesome for citronella oil. Much cheaper than constantly buying citronella candles, wont melt in the sun, and effective! Pier One $6

Old Time Pottery has some excellent items for cheap. Vinyl Table Clothes $1.49 each, lots of cute dishes both paper and plastic! Click here to see their sale circular. They have awesome outdoor furniture prices too!
What about some awesome & festive recipes? Click here for the Jello Parfait recipe
Click here for the Patriotic Strawberry Shortcake Recipe. I usually make one of these every 4th.
One of these days, I am gonna break down and buy a beautiful drink dispenser like these. 2 reasons I have not done so yet, is because of price, and because I wanna make SURE that whichever one I purchase will.not.leak. from the spout. Do any of you own one that you love that does not leak? I would love some feedback! The reviews online made me laugh b.c it said everyone always wants to borrow their drink dispenser for baby showers and wedding parties etc.
These are from Pottery Barn. I know BBB has an acrylic one with an ice shoot in the middle which is really nice.

Never Take your Hubs to Babies R Us!

We ventured out to BRU today since the bubs was off. I wanted him to be present for these baby purchases so he would see how much baby stuff cost! We were so blessed by family and friends that we already have almost everything we need! Just a few basic essentials (monitor , diapers, wipes etc) He was not very helpful and basically is of the mindset that the baby will just show up with all his own accessories straight from the womb. Since we all know that is not true, I persevered and explained every.single.purchase.
One of our biggest discussions on baby gear these past few months was the stroller. I know how mobile our life style is and have researched for months how to incorporate the booboo to that. Erik took a minute to look at the price tag of my research and decided that an umbrella stroller was the best way to go. Here is he below with his pick. He texted a picture of it to lots of ladies and they all responded telling him he was crazy!

The stroller I picked out is so popular its on back order times 12. My local guy finally got one in and we bought it today! So excited! You can click here to read my post about why this was the stroller for us. I can assure you that I was very thorough in my research. I even taught all the sales men about it and demonstrated its features for them, which seemed to amuse them.

When we got it home we did a little real life demo. Is this not the cutest thing you have EVER seen? My dog children enjoy being pushed, carried etc. Ralphie loves my baby sling too. When Fenn gets here we can just put both doggles into the bottom basket!

Iphone App Review : SpentonApps

Spent on Apps is a really cool app that allows you to track your iTunes spending. Once you buy it and program in your itunes email address ( it must be an IMAP email) it goes through your email and tallies up your purchases. Not gonna lie, my tally was astounding. But I have had an itunes account for many years now so I guess that makes sense.
Below are screenshots from Itunes so you can get an idea of how it looks/works.

My Little Weather Man.....

In Ralphie's older age he has calmed down a good bit, but he has also developed some strong fears. One of those is the rain/thunder/lightening. Lately, all it ever does in Nashville is rain and before it ever starts, I know it's coming because Ralpy comes up to me shaking, panting and crouched down. It's rather pathetic. Eventually he seeks shelter, so I have to make him a fort of blankets and pillows or he will go under the couch, where he has to lay flat as a pancake b.c he is too fat to fit under there!

Isn't that sad? It's time to go see Uncle Louie and get some doggie prozac.

East Nashville Art Fair

This weekend East Nashville hosted an awesome art fair! We went there after brunch on Sunday with the Newcombs who were in town for the weekend. It was great to see them!

Typical East Nash scene : some doggy romance!
Then, TOTAL FREAKOUT - The snocone man has finally opened back up again. I MUST HAVE snocones in the summer but being pregnant makes that need very urgent and he was totally neglecting me! He seemed a little overwhelmed by my enthusiasm.
and then he gave me the bad news of " they were not really ready yet" so no sno cone for me yesterday ... I wish I had a picture of Erik's face because he saw the stand before I did and was eagerly watching me from a distance waiting on me to notice it and get excited and he got a good laugh from my initial reaction!
and look at this little treasure! I got a print of our 2nd born Boppie ! One can never have enough Yorkie art work! This looks just like her and what I call her "muppet mouth"!

My Totally Groovy Baby Shower!

This weekend was my baby shower, and it was the coolest one I have ever been to! It was like Willy Wonka meets the 60's themed and I loved every bit of it! Below are the cupcakes which I thought were a particularly cute touch!

Menu:
Beautiful sour Candy center pieces but I am a big fan of Sour candy!

Gorgeous flowers which are now all over my house!
Wooden letters spelling "Fennmore" were down the table and the guests got to decorate them with lots of cute and sparkly do-dads for me! So cute and a neat idea!

The beautiful and creative hostesses and me.
Opening all the fun presents. I loved every.single.thing. I got and may have to do another blog post showing off some of those goodies because it was unreal. Below is a gift basket from Uncle Louie and Andrea that was the epitome of a theme! It was all green and brown like my nursery with Froggy and monogrammed goodness in it. Those balloons were beautiful too! Even that teddy bear was monogrammed which I never even knew was possible! You can also take unzip him to wash which is awesome!
Here is another totally cool and unique thing: underneath the tissue paper in this basket was a HUGE clothes line and lots of tiny cute baby things were clipped to it. It was a lot of fun to open and see and everyone enjoyed it! Thanks to the McKibbons!
I was absolutely over whelmed at all the time, effort, and money that my sweet friends put into this shower and how well it represented all that is me. I will never forget it, and am super sentimental about such things so these pictures and the memory will bring me joy for years. It just feels amazing to have people do something so nice. I also really appreciated my friends and family who drove from far away and spent precious weekend time coming to a baby shower, not to mention all the sweet gifts they showered me in! Thanks to everyone from the bottom of my heart!

Real SImple Talks Tech Etiquette

Real Simple has a great article over on their website for Tech Etiquette. I am not a big fan of "Etiquette Rules" but I know they do have their place. I am much more sensitive to the rules of technology than regular life! ha Click that link above if you wanna read up!

28 Weeks Complete and 29th Started Yesterday!

Well today is the 2nd day of week 29! That means almost 30 which is almost 40 which is almost time for me to get my body back! It is amazing how things can change over night in pregnancy. One day you wake up and you are HUGE! One day you wake up and you have crazy hormones, and one day you wake up and you feel great. It's always a mystery.
I am thankful to say that this week has been very good for me emotionally. I was slightly worried about the dark side swallowing me whole for a bit. This past week also marked the start of:

  • Braxton Hicks Contractions. Not a big deal really, but I googled because my stomach would feel so hard and tight and uncomfortable I wondered if I was just out of room down there. Turns out its all just part of the fun!
  • Fenn moves constantly! I mean daylight to midnight this little dude is hanging from my ribs, bouncing on my bladder, or practicing his disco moves. Due to his size, all this moving isn't as fun for mommy as it once was. I always loved the kicks because it makes the idea of a real living human coming out of there more real. Week 28 I stopped loving all that movement because my ribs hurt SO BAD!
  • The weight just keeps on coming! I am pretty sure I have gained a total of about 32 lbs so far. DANG that is a lot! We found Erik's baby book recently and just FYI he was a 9lb and 11oz baby. Holy Moly! So I am gonna blame my weight gain on the fact that our baby is probably a sumo baby, and not on the fact that I eat a pack of Oreos every day!
  • My Belly Button is no longer! It's not exactly an "outie" but its inside out for sure!

Making GREEN Cleaning Supplies

I have started ridding our house of all commercial cleaning products because who knows what is in them. With a booboo soon to be around, best to keep things natural. Plus I really hate all those ugly mis-matchy bottles they come in, and cleaning products are NOT CHEAP.
To make them the most attractive, you can purchase bottles from The Container Store, or you can recycle old bottles. Martha Stewart and Method lines both have nice plain clear containers. Sally's Beauty Supply store also has a nice collection of spray bottles if you wanna purchase some new ones. Old Time Pottery has great and cheap clear spray bottles as well.

Ingredients for Homemade Cleaning Products:
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Ammonia

I found this info on a clever site full of recipes for homemade cleaning solutions. Click here to read the full article. Below is just a snippet!

Mildly acidic white vinegar dissolves dirt, soap scum, and hard water deposits from smooth surfaces, yet is gentle enough to use in solution to clean hardwood flooring.

White vinegar is a natural deodorizer, absorbing odors instead of covering them up. (And no, your bathroom won't smell like a salad! Any vinegar aroma disappears when dry.)

With no coloring agents, white vinegar won't stain grout on tiled surfaces. Because it cuts detergent residue, white vinegar makes a great fabric softener substitute for families with sensitive skin.

If you need to recycle old bottles and remove any sticky residue from previous labels you can use :

  • Baking Soda & Water Paste (just rub gently into the goo, then wipe off with a warm wet cloth)
  • Baby Oil (mineral oil)
  • Petroleum Jelly
  • peanut butter

And for fun, I have a give away below of some Green Laundry detergent from VASKA. Just a sample size to try AND a $10.00 giftcard to Alice.com for new customers!

The Swagger Wagon

I CAN NOT stop laughing at this! I can totally see Erik & I making a video of our own like this! Hilarious!

Fenn's Baby Book

I spoke in an earlier post about reviving my Scrapbooking Skills and that will continue on for Fenners. I do not plan to deprive my son of the detailed documentation of his first year and have really been into a certain style scrapbook that I saw HERE ON THIS BLOG. The problem is... these bad boys are $150!! ( yes you read that right) and I just couldn't pull the trigger. My friend Nicole also sent me this site that is a little cheaper at $99 ( before monogramming) but in the end I decided to test my crafting skills that have been shelved since December and see if I could make my own. My Momma sent me this great link of a tutorial. Creativity has never been my problem in life, its the planning ahead and execution of details that I mess up on. Mom and Erik both balance that for me. Thanks Ya'll!

So I have made the book , and you know it's not half bad... but before I took it to the monogrammers, Nicole tells me about this site called The Pink Giraffe. Yes Please! It has tons of awesome monogram-ness but also some very affordable Scrapbooks and baby books and so I think I will probably just order one from her and call it a day! After shopping for materials and such, ya'll can trust me when I say this is an excellent price for this book!
And another really cool idea, that I have never tried but am very interested in is from the site called Big Day Books. Basically, from what I can tell, it is a site where you can make scrapbooks online and have them printed out onto paper. Does anyone know about this site or have any feedback?

And for even more Photo ideas you can read this excellent post on Magnolias, Marriage & Manhattan Blog!

Lusting After Louis....

Can you say PUSH PRESENT?! Ha just kidding but what happens when you combine 2 of my favorite things .... ( Monogramming and Louis V.) ? Some beautiful handbags!! Starting in June they will offer the personalization on some different style bags, including the "Neverful" which I love! You even can choose the lining color! Sweet!

Adventures In Babysitting

I'm blog slacking again! Here are some updates:

Glider for the nursery finally came in! It is heavenly. I ordered a neutral color so that I can use it around the house and not just as a baby chair. It is so cozy I really wanna put it in the living room! Thanks to my Nonie! She gifted this to little Fenn.

Now that it is warming up again our little friend from next door has been visiting. He LOVES Erik! He will watch for him to come home so that he can some see him! He hung with us the other night for a few hours while his parents went to dinner and we had a great time. The dogs LOVE him and he races all around the house with them. You see Ralphie guarding him here.
Then we built some forts, and had a dance party.

He has QUITE the dance skills. In fact, I hope my booboo can dance this good! I was just playing samples off itunes so cant help the lyrics! Whatever type of music I played he danced right to with appropriate rhythm and moves!

I'm Scrapbooking Again!

Once Upon A Time, I was a HUGE scrapbooker, and very good at it if I do say so myself! When Erik and I were first dating, I would bring all my supplies to Nashville and scrapbook while he and his fam watched football ( since I am not a sports fan) and his dad would stand behind me watching and commenting on all my skills and styles. He could not believe all that went into it but I think he enjoyed watching it.
Then Mrs. Norma got inspired and she made us one for our Wedding and Honeymoon that is super cute! I can safely say that I have not scrapbooked ONE THING, since the accident. Pretty awful cause Erik and I have done some really cool things over the past few years. I recently broke out my old books to show CB, and they were so fun to look at, that it inspired me to start again. Those pictures feel like a LIFETIME ago!
Yesterday bubs got my scrapbooking supply box out of the basement and I got so excited! I had not seen all that stuff in years and there were some brand new stickers and such that I can't wait to use. I spent yesterday afternoon organizing it all, and made a quick trip to JoAnne's because , um, having a baby is like one of the biggest scrapbooking events EVER.

Mrs. Norma bought me this bag tag several years ago at a Scrapbooking Warehouse she stopped at one time. It's hilarious and I love it b.c. it makes me think of her and all my fun scrapbooking times on their couch.

I am also totally stoked to have a hobby/project that is safe for me to do while pregs, i.e. doesn't involve too much physical labor or fumes that I am not allowed to breathe! The lack of projects around here has been killing me!
So, do any of you scrapbook? I have not even thought about it in FIVE years so I am sure some things have changed or new things and techniques have surfaced! Do tell!
