First Experience with Rice Cereal

All Pedi's advise differently, but ours said we can start rice cereal at 4 months, and real food smashed up at 6 months. I cant wait to be able to make baby food, but for now I will settle for this! I had a feeling it would go well, b.c peebs loves to eat! He tries to eat anything that comes towards his mouth ( medicine, nose bulb, etc)...
His fur siblings were there to cheer him on... ( and clean up any mess)
They got a little excited when he started spitting it out and wanted to jump on it, so I was telling them to park it.
Oh you guys are hilarious... I'm happy to eat this porridge...
and I'll pose for you too...

Yummers! Day one with food, a success. The era of non smelly diapers just ended. :(

He did so well! I can't believe he is old enough for food. I feel like you just had him. So true about the diapers. Yuck!

Oh he is so cute! I tried to find that brand of cereal but it was always sold out at our Target. We have done mostly rice cereal until now so I'm wanting to make her baby food now. I think you mentioned something about what you'll use to make PB his food - can you pass your wisdom along to me? :)

looks like he is more a fan of the rice cereal than M was!! we did have success w/ oatmeal cereal though and then when I mixed in some baby food bananas w/ the oatmeal--OMG!!! Now at 7 mos we have sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans, bananas, apples, pears...pretty much anything & everything except meats bc the baby food meats just gross me out and the thought of blending up meat in the food processor to mke my own meat babyfood grosses me out, too! Ha! Our ped is on same track as yours it sounds like: we started cereals at 4 mos, babyfoods at 6. We can give him tablefoods now, too which is fun/ scary bc I'm always afraid he's going to choke!! Everyone says give them vegs before fruits s they don't have "sweet tooth", but we gave bananas before any veggies and M actually prefers veggies to fruits, so I don't think that's necessarily true (just in case you need to use the bananas in cereal trick if Peebs starts to reject the rice cereal nastiness!) Just WAIT for the first baby food diaper--OMG! Have fun! Wish we were closer so we could get our little fatboys together for playdates :)

Not going to lie...I have not one clue what rice cereal is, but looks like it went off without a hitch. That 2nd to last pic of Fenn is maybe the greatest thing ever. His expressions kill me!!! Please bring him to the shindig next week if you can. Would love to see him! :)

He's such a good eater! Congrats. Sally pretty much skipped baby food. Wouldn't have anything to do with it. I would put her in the bumbo, put food in her mouth, and she would lean over the side, spit it out and dry heave. But now she eats real food, I can't say I blame her much! Glad your boo boo is such a good eater. It gets really fun watching them try new things!

I'm surprised he liked it right away! Seems like most first food posts don't end that way;-) Cutie!

He is so precious! My son is just a little older and didn't do quite so well the first time we fed him, but he loves it now. :) Just started following you on twitter (I'm @sarahjanell) and came over to check out your blog - so cute! I love your idea about displaying your Christmas cards - I will totally steal that next year. Look forward to following along your blog! :)
