The Post Pregnancy Body : Week 1

I have been debating on doing weekly post showing my weight loss and body shape progress for 2 reasons:
1- It will motivate me to get it going and stuff

2- I was SO curious what my body would look like after, and no one ever shows that or talks about it, so I am gonna open that door here on the blog. Beware! Hope I don't gross anybody out!

Tomorrow Fenners will be ONE week old and its true what they say, time flies by. I guess because we stay so busy and tired!   So week one, I have lost about 17lbs from before giving birth until now. My total gain was 45lbs and that leaves a lasting 28lbs. Not terrible but numbers have never really mattered to me, it's more about how it LOOKs... and it doesn't look good.

Behold...

Can you believe how BIG that thing still is? DANG! Not sure what to do about that but hope like heckle that it shrivels up fast from the constant breast feeding/pumping my little dinosaur piggy baby does.

Another thing I would love to know is, WHAT DO YOU WEAR after habing a baby? I mean.. I still LOOK pregnant, In fact the guy at the Turnip Truck ( local natural grocery) asked me today how the pregnancy was going and pointed to my stomach... and I had to be all..
" well the baby is good, he is in the car with momma, this is just my leftovers" YIKES. Thankfully the hormone train didn't make me cry right there on the spot.

But I would love some feedback from experienced ladies on what to wear and any suggestions on nursing clothes! Holla Back

I have never commented before and I don't have a bay but I do know that they have these things called "belly bandits" that are supposed to work WONDERS at getting your uterus to go back down. I hope that helps and congratulations on the baby!

After I had Brodie last year, the first day back to work (after 8 weeks) this girl asked if I was pregnant again!!! I was SO upset. But, what can you do with other people's stupidity...
But I did use a girdle, you can get a belly bandit-kinda pricey, or just get a torso girdle thing from walmart or target, it'll help shrink your uterus back down, plus help you fit back into some of your pre-pregnancy clothes :)
Many, many congrats on your new son!! :)

I wore my early maternity stuff until I could fit back into my regular clothes....it was tough because it was still 30 degrees outside! So mostly sweats...very sexy! The bella band is great for this stage, got one like it from target....Breastfeeding definitely helps it to go away quicker! I am so glad it is working so well for you...such a blessing! Almost 6 months later and Sully still eats ALL the time which has helped me shed the pounds plus some! Good luck and good for you for posting such a personal and touchy subject with new moms!!!

Yo-I'm so proud of you for showing the tummy! It is presh.

I wore maternity clothes-also, I didn't leave the house-to go in anywhere-until about 3 weeks in. You could buy a size or two bigger real clothes, but you're going to shrink pretty quickly, especially breastfeeding!

Love ya!

I'm so glad you posted this! I too wondered what it was really like. Everyone says you will look 20-24 wks pregnant after birth, but no one really shows you. And i sure don't remember what I looked like at 20 weeks. I'm still wearing my preg pants- 5 weeks out. I can't wait to see what tips you get!
Hard to try to diet and still want to provide for baby! Baby is number 1!!!

I got the belly bandit around 5 weeks and wore it around the clock. I guess it helped but I think you are supposed to wear it immediately after having a baby, so it didn't help too much for me.
Just get some stretchy pants or long flowly dresses.
you look great! and your baby is adorable.
Emory was 9 lbs 13 oz when she was born...gotta love chunky babies!!!

Two words: Bella Band.

It helps with any backaches too from having to keep carrying your belly around. Doesn't it feel so weird? I couldn;t get over how weird it was still having a belly with no baby in it.

And no worries, people were still asking me when I was due 2 weeks later..

The bella band is nice but honestly it wont do you any good in your old clothes if they can;t fit over your thighs!! That was my prob until last week (13 weeks). Keep in mind it will drop off, I have not done any thing weight loss related on purpose and have lost 30+ lbs so just be a om for now and things will smooth out (all of them) love you all!!

As far as nursing clothes...invest in a bunch of nursing tanks. I got quite a few from target and wear them under my regular shirts. It makes it easier to nurse in public or around other people because you are covered from ALL angles. also check out the bebe au lait covers and udder covers. I have both and really like them!

This is why I had to wear my maturnity clothes until the belly went down and then I still had to wear bigger than pre prego tops because the boobs don't go down until you are done breastfeeding and sometimes a couple months AFTER breastfeeding, or in my case...I never went down to my pre prego bra size...I am a half a cup size bigger now. Yippee ;(
Since it's hot out, tanks would be the route to go, easy for nursing. And as for the belly and people making comments or asking how it is all going, totally ignore. It should be going down in the very very near future. I used to just have fun with people and say things that would make them feel awkward, like no,I am just fat or yes, there are three babies in there ;) You look beautiful!!

Breastfeeding will do wonders to shrink a lot of that belly in the first few weeks. I still wore my maternity clothes for the first month or so then finally broke down and got a few new pairs of pants that were one size up from my pre pregnancy size. I am still working to get back into my pre pregnancy size but I had actually gained a little weight back from breastfeeding because I was so hungry all the time (and wasn't very goos bout eating healthy). Good luck!

Just be comfy for awhile momma! I wore my cotton yoga pants/capris FOREVER! And t-shirts! Didn't care what I looked like - I was too busy taking care of a baby!

Thank you for posting this entry. I have always been curious of the post-baby body and I applaud you for putting this out there. I think there are so many woman that will be able to relate to this post and the changes their body goes through after the baby. I would just stick with comfy clothes like yoga pants, t's and tanks. If you go out, wear your pregnancy pants or dresses. You have all those cute ones from Old Navy :)

Good for you for posting your pics. You look great post 1 week by the way. When I had Wesley I could just swear I would put my small jeans on asap and then I couldn't get them over my knees for months! My hips were just too big plus I had a huge tummy still. It took a solid 7 months of hard workouts at the gym for me to slip my size 28 jeans back on my body and I'm anticipating the same thing this time around. It will come off but it's going to take some time and that's always annoying. I have several "big girl" jeans and work pants to get me through and I bought a lot of very forgiving tops. It's annoying...not fun at all.
