The Nursery: Current State

Hoarder much? Ha! Well yes, perhaps. I have to watch a few episodes of hoarders to get motivated to deal with this. It used to be my office, then it was a closet/Craft room , THEN during the kitchen construction somehow all of the shelving and clothes racks fell off the wall and now everything is just laying in piles in the middle of the room, looking pretty disastrous. My first step was to make a list of all the categories of things that are in there, and then one category at a time extract them and redistribute!
Next steps will be to prime all the walls and work on those freezing 1927 windows. My momma is coming in Feb. and I am hoping to have this all cleaned out before she gets here so we can do fun things.
I have no idea what direction to go in yet, but my initial thoughts are:
- Gender neutral ( because i want to be able to reuse the room if necc. Baby stuff is expensi!)
- Retro
- Something not too babyish. I know babyish can be cute, but babies don't know what they heck their room looks like, so I'll save that for the booboos actual bedroom and not nursery.
Nursery will be for Momma :)
Think THIS:

My 2 Baby Splurges will be on bedding and stroller. The other things will be super budgeted!

Good ideas-however, may I suggest not splurging too much on the bedding-you can't use half of it for safety reasons-the bumpers had to come down at 3 months, no quilt, pillows, or sheets either. So, you aren't left with much cuteness! :D Def get an awesome stroller/carseat combo though!

Can you PLEASE explain to Melissa about the baby not seeing what the room looks like! Sweet Jesus she has me scared to have kids because of what she's going to cost us for all the ideas in her head. Good luck on that room. If you're like me once it gets so far gone I get stressed looking at it and have trouble getting anything done.

I love the pic!
Hope there is no lost cats in your Hoarder room...

I like it! You know I went secondhand all the way - the only thing in the room that is new is the crib which is super duper important b/c of the safety aspect. Check out the baby mod line at Walmart. I went with a Graco (Victoria) and love it.

Ex-sca-use Cas for blabbing! I am gonna have fun once babies come! I like the colors! They had some modern looking lamps at the Maxx today!

I love the idea of a nursery that "flows" with the house. And you are right, it is more for you than them. I like the picture above, now that your downstairs is flowing together nicely something in those colors would look good.

Ha I was cleaning out my saved list and I was going to send you a link that had nurseries but then I saw this pic in there? Design Dazzle??? They have some cool ideas. A lot of things you could re-recreate on the cheap!

Love your blog (esp the home decorating tips and gadget-related posts!) but just wondering if you've ever thought about putting the pregnancy-related blog posts into a separate blog (and keeping this one's theme as is)? (That way they each have their own focus...)
Just thought I'd mention it since I've seen other people doing that sort of thing...

Keep up the cool blogging, the proposed nursery design looks cool!
