Our Weekend In Review: Mi Madre es in Town!

This weekend has been packed.. well really since last Wed. Both of my parents were in town Wed - Sun. My dad spent most of his time representing his peeps at the Turkey Festival at Opryland Hotel & Convention Center. ( He is the president of the NWTF for Alabama). While he was busy doing that, My mom and I hit up every Good Will, Salvation Army, Thrift store etc.. looking for the perfect stuff for our new DINING ROOM!
We had SOOOOO much fun. I never knew the treasures that surround us here until she inspired me to explore more! Below are some of our fun buys ( the dining room project will be another post). Today is my Mom's birthday. She is 32! ha just kidding. Happy Birthday Momma!

Now you may not know, but I am QUITE the collector.. of many odd things.. and 2 of those things are Vintage Tupperware ( specifically orange) or Vintage Melmac dishes. I prefer the Blue ( turquoise) ones. Both my mom, and Erik's mom had a set of these when they got married and I have ONE of Mrs. Norma's set. They became dishes for the sandbox in later years. HA and mom mom thinks she gave hers to someone. DANG. Anyway they are hard to find but I always look at every flea market type of venue and we found some this weekend! See below.
Any Momma's out there who have some old Mel-Mac on hand go ahead and mail 'em to me! ( Mrs. Becky, Mrs Jean, Momma Cary, Sandra, Sara etc... ) :)
and here are some bulbs we bought for 10 CENTS each! wowsers! Mom and Erik planted all of these in the back yard! Very excited about that. We had some random bulbs here and there in the yard and my dad dug those up for us to move to an actual flowerbed.
And not pictured would be some new vintage pillowcases and sheets I gathered for my collection. I have no interest in any true antiques but I love anything from the 60's and 70's and sheets from that era are not only SUPER soft but also VERy colorful! ha I use them for all sorts of things because its also a really cheap means of fabric. If you ever stay over here, dont be distressed because they rarely make it to the guest bed, but even if they do I wash them on the sanitary mode on the washing machine! ha

I realize this probably makes me the 4th biggest dork in the universe...but I LOVE the vintage tupperware. It just makes me think "Mmmm. I can't wait to get home from the office and sit down with the wife for some of her award winning tuna noodle casserole." Gotta love the 50s and 60s, right? LOVE IT!
