To Add or Not to Add? That is the Question!

Just wondering about all you facebookers out there and your thoughts. I feel like I might have talked about this before but I cant remember!(typical)
Anyway, I just seem to be having a lot of issues with people adding me that I dont know, or never really knew. I think that happens to everyone so I am just wondering what you do about it?
I mean, I add them cause I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and it is really harmless.BUT, at the same time it makes it very hard to keep up with the people I actually know, when i am digging through the tons of peeps that I don't know or never knew or used to know when i was 5 type of thing.
Do you guys have a facebook philosophy? Share it!

I just got an invite from someone i went to high school with that i have never spoken too.. I will end up waiting a week or so and then add them just to see what ridiculous status they will leave... I think after another year i will delete my facebook..

I always check to see if I have "friends in common" with them. (Facebook lets you know when they send the request). If you don't, chances are they are some random..Soo, I usually ignore/deny. Tricia was concerned about hurting feelings as well. But no worries..they are never sent any indication that you denied them. So, I stick to the network of people I know! ;)

I add them (so i won't hurt feelings) and then I wait a few days and delete them. They never get anything that says when they've been deleted from someone's friend list and if I don't know them that well anyway, I figure they will never notice when my name is no longer on their friend list.

I ignore people all of the time. Sometimes I look at mutual friends and if we have a lot of mutual friends then I will add them, but I don't feel bad when I ignore someone. They don't get a notice when they are ignored, either!

Just remember the saying "Just because you're my Facebook friend doesn't mean you're my real friend". A "guilt add" will just cause a chain reaction. Also, I don't add people I just don't know or recognize. If I wouldn't acknowledge them in public, I won't add them

I keep up with my close friends OUTSIDE of facebook, and the rest are really there for my entertainment...meaning it's always entertaining to me to keep up with random people's lives because they aren't close to me. i like to see how different or how alike we really are sometimes. But I do ignore sometimes, and don't think twice about it.

You should just delete your account, problem solved ;)

I have a continual problem with someone from my hometown with the same name and i am SICK TO DEATH of getting friends invites from her peeps. Seriously, check out my info, my page is not private and see if you really know me....end rant. I am MUCH more disconcerning with my friend choices on facebook than myspace. I like to say random things and talk about my life and i don't want just everyone seeing it. I say ignore.

Use the Crowded Room test. If you're in a crowded room and you see someone you know, you will do two things:

1) Push a couple of people aside to get to that person so you can say hello because you're genuinely interested in seeing what they're up to; or,

2) Turn the other way or casually walk by and pretend that you didn't see them.

Thinking about getting a car insurance quote?
Car Insurance
A growing number of people are dropping their auto insurance to try to save money, according to a recent study by the Insurance Research Council (IRC). If the current rate of unemployment continues, the IRC estimates that the national uninsured rate will climb from 13.8 percent in 2007 to 16.3 percent in 2010. With that many people driving without coverage, it's dangerous to be uninsured. But how much car insurance do you really need?
If you're like many people feeling the pinch, your inclination is to get the bare minimum of insurance coverage required by the law in your state. That's a good place to start, though those minimums may not fully protect you -- or your assets -- if you file a claim. We recommend getting more than the minimum coverage unless you are driving a beater and have no assets to protect.
