Coming Out of The Closet!

Well, about an hour ago I was just sitting in our office working and Erik beckons me to "COME AND FIND ME SOME CLOTHES TO WEAR" so I got up, with both dogs in my arms and went into the closet where Erik was and he immediately shuts the door "to keep the heat in" but he also LOCKED US INSIDE. So here we are, in our new house, with both dogs and locked inside our antique closet. Oh yeah, and the house is locked tight as well! So how is anyone gonna help us get out if they cant get inside the house? Lucky for us , Cory was coming over to go to the Preds Game with us tonight and I heard her car door shut. Thank God she was about 30 mins early too! So she finally hears us calling and and we explain to her that we are all locked in the closet. She finds a way in the house and rescues us! Ha... it was quite comical.

Fuzzot Furniture! I love this stuff

This is one of my favorite vendors at the Flea Market! This guy gets old stuff from houses, or old furniture and makes something new and unique from it! You can read all about him on his website www.fuzzotfurniture.net
He is amazing!

Ralphie's Latest Quandry

Food. we have a small problem. You see that fancy black dish holder in the background there? Well it has attacked him not once, but twice and now he is scared to eat, unless I stand there and watch him. His little tag got caught in the metal thing and so when he picked his head up from eating that whole thing was stuck to his face and scared him to death. That was atleast a month ago and still , everyday when he gets hungry he goes to his dish and barks incessantly for me to come in there and once i sit down he will start eating.
Here he is waiting on me to show up.And here he is just checking to make sure I sit down and stay put. Check out that facial expression!
and here he is finally agreeing to eat! HA Even though I dont put his dishes in that holder anymore, he still wont eat without supervision. He must be traumatized.

Paperback Swap

Soooo Many of you guys loved to read (susannah!) so I heard about this little website the other day called www.paperbackswap.com. It sounds really neat. I dont know all the details but basically when you get done with your books you mail them to someone and whatever book you are looking for you get from someone else.. Kind of Like a Netflix for books. Only all you ever pay is shipping.. which for those that dont know, when shipping books you specifically request to ship via "Media Mail" which is much cheaper than regular postage (and takes about twice as long too)

Will February Bring about a New Host?

I have had some good advice lately on the blog, and I am contemplating changing hosts... So
Click HERE and see the possibly new (and very basic until I figure out what the heckle I am doing here). Then tell me what you think ! New poll in the sidebar so be sure to vote

Mrs Jean Kirkland! So glad to have you on board! Hope you guys are well!

Current State of The House

This is the temporary bedspread for the guest room. Its simple.. modern, comfy.. and most importantly was on clearance at BBB for $12.50. Includes the Duvet and 2 matching shams.
We bought these match stick blinds for the kitchen.. I like them but erik HATES them so I guess they wont be staying....I plan to tackle this tonight. As it is, Erik doesnt have ONE thing in this closet HA
This was a big task! I have always loved these and we have moved them probably 4 times maybe 5 by now and this is the FIRST time they have even made it to a wall. Not sure about the arrangement. Thoughts? (the stuff on the shelves is not the end result... just for display)
I made Erik a small Living room b/c he is lost without one! Our living room furniture hasnt been moved yet.

Flea Market Finds!

Saturday, after wasting all morning waiting on a tile man, I get a call from Little Stevie. He wants to know where and how he should get his hair cut. (I had him on a hair plan to get him a cute kind of skater boy do) He said " I just want to be sure, because what is that thing we were doing again? ... oh yeah being STYLISH" HA He cracks me up. Its amazing really, how children study us and know us so well. He often amazes me at how well he knows me.
So anyway, I told him to just come spend the day with me and we could go to the Flea Market and he could see the new house etc and he was all over it. We had a great time at the flea market. He remembers which booths I like to go to first! ha So as we pull up, I Said where should we go first and he said THE DOG BARN.. and I am like of coarse!! There is one area dedicated to selling lots of precious animals, mostly puppies! This is where we acquired Flossie! (that is a whole other story in itself) but as you may know, we have an imaginary 3rd dog child "Dolbie" and so we had to go look in the puppy barn to see if Dolbie was there. (as I type this I can feel 75% of you rolling your eyes at the very thought of a 3rd doggle)
Then we checked out the "Sugar Gliders" which are like squirrels that look like skunks and cost $200. You can click here to go to the website. Rebekkah (stevie's older sister) spent the day with us too and here she is holding a Sugar Glider!

We forgot to take a picture of our dang Flea Market Loot, but what we got:
Rebekkah - Some Guitar pic earrings
Stevie- A bag full of assorted candy
Laura - 2 rugs for $15 each. I saw the same rug I bought for our laundry room in BBB last night for $60! Here is Ralphie modeling my new office rug.

A New Website: Wonderful Graffiti

For all you label lovers out there, this is a cool site for you! Wonderful Graffiti makes labels and wall art. I want one of the monograms to put on the wall behind our bed! You can see them HERE.
There are also options on the site where you can design your own room chosing paint color and florring etc so that you can get a real idea of what it will look like.

Ever Heard of a Man Cold?

Click here to see what that is all about! This just tickled me b/c that is exactly how it is in our house!

I have a new project!

I am having trouble adding photos right now so I may have to come back and edit this later,.. BUT my mom sent me this cool blog the other day called Bluelines.. part of the Martha Stewart Franchise...
Anyway, if you click that link and scroll down you will see this:
This chicks are taking paint and wallpaper to re-vamp their old bookshelves! I love it! Now what I want to do is take the idea above and implement it into that bookcase that is built into the wall in our living room:
Not a great picture of the bookcase but you get the idea. The buffett underneath was a wedding present from Mr. Jerry Steele. Thanks Mr. Jerry! I want to continue using it for our entertaining dishes but I need some handy way to store all the bar ware we got as wedding gifts. This book case is the ticket I believe! JessiDesign.. this has your name written all over it so feel free to leave tons of feedback!

I never watch YouTube Stuff..

But Lisa sent me this last night and it is really touching! Watch it!

A New Look!

With February right around the corner, I went ahead and changed the color scheme of the blog. The other one was driving me crazy!
Valentimes
is one of my FAV holidays so I am too excited to have a red and pink theme for this month. You can verify with Erik, but in this house we celebrate Valentimes ALL.MONTH.LONG. and yes, I call it "Valentimes" on purpose because it is a "time" of the year.
Last year, I talked Daddy into buying me all these fun trinkets at Cracker Barrell in the After Valetimes Sale and I cant wait to break those out! One of which is literally a Pink denim jacket with heart rhinestnes studded on the front breast pockets. I plan to rock this jacket all month as well. The idea of it is quite hilarious, but I have a feeling that everyone in my new neighborhood will love it!
Moving Along, I am happy to report that the numbers last month were amazing! My goal is to grow every month, and so far so good! Also, Keep it clicking because they way ya'll (ERIK) have been going I may be able to get a new pieece of furniture by this summer! ha
Missouri, I see you are still with us and we love it! Maybe one day you will comment! (not-so-subtle-hint- hint)
Marlee Smith and Barb have joined us now! Welcome Ladies! Fran! So glad you are a loyal reader!
Results from the last poll are in!
Bedspread #1 had 12 votes and bedspread #5 had 10 votes!
Since #5 was my personal Fav.. I think we may be going with that one.... however I will have to look long and hard for a duplicate to that style since it costs mad money! If ya'll see anything similair somewhere HOLLA. The one I posted was from Restoration Hardware...

Yesterday; A big Day of Firsts

Yesterday, was a big day for us! Direct TV came at 8am and now we have TV. Which means, Erik will actually come over here now!
Yesterday was also the first time our dog children have been to the new house! They are super excited. There are so many stimulating things over here, like, other dogs, stairs to climb, lots of windows to look out and lots of noises to bark at... they are overwhelmed and were REALLY tired last night!
We met one of neighbors for the first time too. I could tell right away he was cool, and so could Erik. My reasons were that when he met us, I introduced Erik and myself and then he immediately asked " and they are?" and he was referring to my doggles! A ++ for that guy for caring to meet my dogchilds!
Erik's reasoning was a little bit different! The guy was wearing a PREDATORS hat! ha so he MUST be cool!
He also rides street bikes, (like fancy motorcycles)and he was wearing his gear when we met up on the sidewalk, so I knocked on his jacket (cause it looked like armor) and Erik was like - SUPER embarrassed! But he didn't seem to mind.
We also spent our FIRST night here last night! It was very fun! Although I was SO tired I was about to collapse by 11. Erik looked at me and said "Finally! You look so sad, whats wrong? I didn't think you would ever be sad again here" (because I have been SO elated with this house) and i was like "sad?" NO I am SLEEPY , i mean like I would just collapse any moment now sleepy!

Now today will be spent dealing with ebay, as I had a big night last night, Also would like to say a warm welcome to "Barb" she is my lady friend in retail in cool springs who helps me out with getting inventory! I love her and she has started reading the blog recently so WELCOME BARB!

So, needless to say I have been mad busy this weekend but I will try and get the blog caught up today!

They cant decide what to make of me being so far away. They both tried to sit it my lap for a while and finally I put FLossie's bed on top of the desk by my computer which they loved... and didnt share well.

Blogger Tip of The Week: Layouts

I am behind on my blog tips. Sorry Dudes! Here is the tip for this week! How to custmize your blog with layouts!
Click here for a page to download the code from and it gives you simple instructions on where to paste.

Warning: Some of them are wacky so always preview before using on your own page!

More on the New Neighborhood

Today I took a little drive around the neighborhood to go to the bank and post office and I saw some NEAT stuff!
I LOVE this neighborhood and how interesting and different it is! No chain stores/restaurants hardly at all! Yes, I am sure I will miss Target, but Erik will probably be relieved about that!

So this fence is painted with veggies, I think because maybe they grow and sell them from ? Don't hold me to that.
Then an answer to all of Snuggle husbands prayers A HOTDOG STAND .... YEAR ROUND... ha it's called " I dream of Weenie" how cute!

I just thought this wall was pretty. I like the mural.

Anyone want to help?!

Just in case ya'll were wondering what I was doing today!

Flossie Bossie the Watch Dog

We don't call her "Flossie Bossy" for nothin! Flossie has a new perch to watch the house from, and if you can't tell by her posture- she takes her job SERIOUSLY!
She will sit right there for hours, and even when she is not there watching she can still tell the second someone or something even breathes near this house.
I guess its about time for a bark collar, if we are planning to maintain any sort of sanity that is.

A New Magazine to Add to Your List...

I got an advertisement for a new Magazine yesterday. What female, do you know, that doesn't LOVE her magazines? The ones already on my list are:
REAL SIMPLE
BLUE PRINT
PEOPLE STYLE WATCH

All of which I love! I am going to get the trial copy of READYMADE and give it look-see but it seems awesome. Its a home decor magazine for our generation with lots of DIY tips and tricks. Sort of a Trading Spaces/Meets Urban Outfitters type of thing.

One of the ideas that I saw, loved and plan to duplicate was to take a bunch of Paint Sample chips in the same color family and arrange them like a mosaic underneath a sheet of glass for a cool table top!

I present to you.... The Master Bedroom...

The only thing left to do in this room is change that ridiculous light fixture to a ceiling fan.

Dang Momma! Dont Take My Fort!

This is what it looked like underneath the bed when we started moving it yesterday...

To All of my friends who are Mommas..

This is for you! Thanks for sending this Linz.

I'm Invisible

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way
one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be
taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm on the phone?'
Obviously not; no one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping
the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see
me at all. I'm invisible; "The Invisible Mom."

Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you
tie this? Can you open this?

Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being.
I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?' I'm a satellite guide to answer,
'What number is the Disney Channel?' I'm a car to order, 'Right around 5:30, please.'

I was cert ain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes
that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude - but now
they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She's
going, she's going, and she's gone!

One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a
friend from England. Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and
she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there,
looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to
compare and feel sorry for myself as I looked down at my out-of-
style dress; it was the only thing I could find that was clean. My unwashed
hair was pulled up in a hair clip and I was afraid I could actually smell
peanutbutter in it. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a
beautifully wrapped package, and said, 'I brought you this.' It was a book
on the great cathedrals of Europe. I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it
to me until I read her inscription: 'To Charlotte, with admiration for the
greatness of what you are building when no one sees.'

In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would discover
what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could
pattern my work: No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no
record of their names. These builders gave their whole lives for a work they
would never see finished. They made great sacrifices and expected no credit.
The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God
saw everything.

A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the
cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird
on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, 'Why are you
spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by
the roof? No one will ever see it.' And the workman replied, 'Because God
sees.'

I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost
as if I heard God whispering to me, 'I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does.
No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake
you've baked, is too small for me to notice and smile over. You are building a great
cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will become.'

At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease
that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride. I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As
one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on
something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so
far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because
there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree.

When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, 'My Mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for three hours and presses all the linens fo r the table.' That would mean
I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And
then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, 'you're gonna love it there.'

As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

Great Job, MOM!

Share this with all the Invisible Moms you know..... I just did.
The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

One Decision Down... 20 million more to go!

Trinkets from AtHome in Homewood, Al

Time and time again people have suggested I visit this store " AtHome" in Homewood and I don't know why I have never been before today! I admit that I didn't take advantage of the cool things Birmingham had to offer when we lived there,as I was paralyzed by the traffic.
Today when I went in I was wide eyed all the time! I picked up a few really snazzy things I had been after and for great prices too! Hardware there was like $4-6! Awesome
This is a cool blue fan pull with oriental flare.

This is a handle for our broom closet! I needed one and this was perfect! I was so excited about I begged Erik to hang it right away.

Then these are some blue hooks for the office so I have somewhere to hang my jacket and purse in the office!

Do you need Foot Duvets? Yes you DO!

Today while wasting time before my hair appointment, I wandered into Restoration Hardware and ohhhh how I loved it in there. They are having an excellent after Christmas sale and I bought these "Foot Duvet" Slippers for $6.99. They were the last pair in my size and in the color I wanted so it was totally meant to be! ha
Anyway it is basically a slipper that is just like a duvet and is lined with plush furry stuff. Total Bliss ! Hurry before they are all gone.
Foot Duvets
PS. They come in children's sizes too. Ivory, Chocolate & Eucalyptus.

"Me" is no longer 3!!

That is because precious little "me" had birthday and turned 4! He celebrated this at CHUCKYCHEESE the wonderland for all children. He was so overwhelmed and excited with all the games that I wasn't too interesting to him (sadness). He and all his brothers had a blast though! And let me just tell you, I don't think I been to Chunky Cheese as an adult, and if you haven't either... here is what you need to know -
- Its way cooler than it used to be, although no ski ball and no big funky robotic rats and bears playing instruments on the stage anymore.
- Its REALLY loud in there, and wild, and a lot of other languages being spoken (or yelled) I am pretty sure they have to sedate the employees.
All in all it was a great party and he enjoyed his plastic tricycle thingy pictured below from (where else?)Target!

Thank You!

Just wanted to say "Thanks" to all of you for your support by logging on to read, and clicking the ads! The Grizas online has had great traffic as well as DOUBLE the add income since December! Please keep it up, click , click, click, until the new house is completely furnished! j/k... but not really.
Also, super excited to have another shout out from a company who wants to be reviewed on my shopping blog! What an exciting Bloggy day!
Thanks to everyone for making this possible. Also special thanks to Erik's work peeps who have been clicking like crazy!

Here we Go Again!

The Rash is back! No doubt because Saturday, I went to the Tanning Bed (yes, I know, spare me the lecture. But How long must I remain pasty?). Why it took more than 24 hours to show up I cant figure out. It is just as pretty as ever though! It is not as widespread as usual, which means I did something right? I used a special non -allergic lotion but the rash seems un-related to the places I applied the lotion. I must figure this out before summer! I cant stay this white forever.

(For those who don't know, i have some mystery rash that i have been struggling with for about 2 years now. It isn't as frequent now that i have realized it has something to do with sun exposure and SPF, but I still haven't figured out exactly what causes it.)

At least, thanks to Matt, I am not suffering from the whelps in my scalp! I plan to continue going to the tanning bed and trying different things until I see what keeps me from having the rash. How else will I be able to enjoy any beach trips?

What A Special Day...

Today is Special because it marks the birth of My Bro, David Colquett, My BFF, Susannah Jenkins Edwards, and Little "Me" Elijah Stovall!
Happy Birthday guys! We love Ya'll!!

Need Firewood?

Also today (busy morning as you can see) I was cruisin the local Kroger parking lot on the hunt for some firewood. I found these 2 lovely gents out there hocking their wares and brought them back to the house with a truck full of firewood. When I asked them to take their picture... (erik I am glad you werent out there for this) the younger one thought it was awesome and put on a big smile.. the older one, well he was not amused. ha
The Henleys were sweet enough to bring us a whole mess of firewood as well but we are not allowed to burn un-seasoned wood in the new fireplace so these dudes were necc. until the other wood is seasoned.

What Week is it? Well .....

Today I was over in the new 'hood and when I passed this school, I couldn't help but wonder what this sign means! Teacher friends, help me out. It says "This Week is No Name Calling Week" .. Ha for real....Must be some mean kids in that school.
In addition to " No Name Calling Week" is National Nurse Anesthetists Week. I saw this on a Billboard today as well .. So this week we will be celebrating our friend Bryan Bray who is half way through CRNA school and has given up all chance at a social life until sometime next year! We are super proud of you Bryan! We shall celebrate you all week by having lots of fun since you cant have any!

Ralphie's Latest Obsession

Is this ball he kind of stole from his buddy Charlie. He guards it very carefully like you see in these pics, and when he is not playing with it he hides it under the bed.
Thanks JulieBray for letting Ralphie keep it! He has REALLY enjoyed it!
