Hoe Many of you Have Had LAsiks?

I am lately, really wanting to get Lasiks. So sick and tired of paying for glasses and sunglasses and having to swap them out when I walk in or outside and then keeping up with them etc. Then think about everytime we go on trips we generally have some sort of glasses related disaster which is stressful cause you cant just get a new pair anytime, anywhere. Also i have the mystery rash that loves to sit behind both ears and wearing glasses that touch the rash is very uncomfortable. BUT ...The latest and greatest reason I want Lasiks, is I dont always wear my glasses (for above mentioned reasons) I just realized how that can be a threat to my safety. I need to be able to see around me and see people who are near by, especially when its dark.

Anyway please comment with all of your thoughts, experiences and stuff ! Thanks

Your rash stories make me thankful I am not a rash person! The word rash just sounds itchy and unpleasant...BTW, my dad had lasik like 10 years a go and can still see great!

this is kinda freaky.. but you usually frwak me out with your, " i had a dream and you were a bus driver.. blah blah.. :) , but I was literally talking to my mom two days ago about wanting to have Lasik surgery and weighing the options and stuff like that.. she recently had it done in Auburn and is doing well. she had to go back to get one eye zapped again.. but other than that, she said it went great.. and my sister had it done 6-8 years ago... mom said that your eyes will swell for about a week and it is difficult to wash your face .. but other than taking a week off work, and follow up visits, it doesn't take long or hurt too much...

you look cute in glasses... pros don't outweigh the cons.

What I Know said...

I know many people who have done it and had great success. One friend even wore the goggles out one night (since it was a BF's bday and she couldn't miss it). Of course everyone bought swimming goggles to wear just to make her look less out of place. Anyway, I do know a guy that had it done by some jackass and he went blind in one eye for about 6 months. Just do your research on the doc, which I am sure you will. BTW, Yes, I made that flyer for my condo in about 20 minutes...I AM a former graphic designer, ya know. Ha! And pass it on!

I had it done about 2 years ago in Auburn by Dr. Hollis (Hollis Lasik) and it is one of the best things I have ever done. The actual procedure itself only took about 90 seconds (Isn't that crazy!?!) but the tests they have to do before hand to make sure you are a candidate for the surgery took about 2-3 hours. (By the way, pretty much everyone is a candidate unless you have glaucoma or cataracts.) A lot of waiting to go from one test area to another. They did a fantastic job and I have had no problems whatsoever. I did some figuring when I first decided to have it done and realized this surgery will have paid for itself in 2 1/2 years considering what I was spending every year on contacts, glasses and eyedrops (I was forever getting eye infections!) Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to email me!

I think I may have told you before, but I had it done in Jan 07, and it's the greatest thing ever. The procedure is really short (30 seconds an eye). They do all the testing before-hand. Do your research on the doc though...and unfortunately cheaper is not better in this case. I didn't trust the cheaper doctors. But it is SO worth it. My eyes were slightly itchy for a week or so, but they give you lots of drops. And then I had the halo effect for the first couple of weeks but it went away too. Overall, it's awesome.

I agree with other peeps to do your research on the doctor beforehand. Cheaper is not always better when dealing with your eyes. I will say that I have loved every minute of being contacts free and it's totally worth every penny!!!
