Help! Tell me what is your guys' fav. Makeup!

Today is the day I decided to quit trying to recycle old makeups and just start fresh. My skin and coloring has all changed since I had any professional matching anyway... so off to Sephora I go! However, as helpful as any of those ladies were, I may as well have just stayed home and shopped online.Have you ever had an angry/ bitter sales girl try to apply foundation on your FACE? Not fun... anyway the only 2 brands (out of the 4 KAthousand they carry) that she even tried were Nars & Makeup Forever? Both odd choices I thought and neither did she match well to my face, and by the time she was done with those and blush & bronzer I looked like an oompa loompa.. so anyway I'm really interested in hearing what you guys like? or LOVE?
I just need either a powder OR a base.. not both and nothing that will make me greasy, but will even out my skin tone! Do I need a magic wand or is this possibles? Normally I use Bare Minerals..
Thanks in advance for all the great advice!

I love prescriptives. They have a lighter coverage liquid foundation one that makes my skin feel so smooth. And if the right person is working the counter, they do a good color analysis to determine your shade...

I might suggest MAC, but to get the real results, I think it takes several steps. Lots of work. I use bare minerals and love it.

I was going to suggest everyday minerals, but then saw that you said you had used bare minerals...i just started using everyday mineral a month ago and love it. Before that I used clinique and was fairly happy with it. I just like the lighter feel of everyday minerals. Hope you find something you like soon!

I love Trish McEvoy...it's the best. I use her foundation mineral powder (no liquid stuff except a spf lotion). I'll check online to see if it's available in your area. They regularly have complimentary makeovers done by pros and not bitter chain store bitches. Now I use the eye shadow which stays better than anything out there...as you can see I became obsessed ;)

I am going to review 3 brands I've tried, but before I say that I think all makeups look best on your skin when they are brand new but like halfway through they start to look dull, switching back and forth between 2 brands helps.
Bobbie Brown - great products but they could never find a color to match me, I feel like it was too yellow and really made for darker skin tones.
Laura Mercier - I loved this brand but you have to mix foundation with a little water, looks great, but a lot of trouble, great translucent powder that I still used sometime, but not enough to use alone.
Lancome - I keep coming back. I have the Tenint Idole Ultra foundation and the Dual Finish Powder, which is awesome because you can use it without foundation for day time and it's perfect, you can go as polished or light as you want. It's easy to apply and the best price.

The next thing I want to try is Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer which I hear is more like foundation.

OOOoo I love Trish eyeshadows too! I agree with Kristi about that. I still use a bunch from 2004, is that safe? haha! Also I would go to Saks for makeover, they are always professional and helpful and have all the good brands.

clinique - works great, lots of opions, never greasy. I love it.

Bare Minerals is still the way to go. I will use it until I die. But I don't know what all you've tried aside from the foundation. Two suggestions:
(in their own words) The RareMinerals™ Skin Revival Treatment effectively delivers benefits such as reduced sun damage, more refined pores, brighter complexion, softer, smoother texture, less noticeable redness, and clearer and firmer-looking skin. I've heard it feels absolutely amazing, you buff it on at night, then do makeup as normal during the day. Or just get the colored version and wear it during the day as your foundation. I've also heard GREAT things about BM foundation primer (Prime Time). It gives you a flawless blend and feels great on your face. One post said, "Prime Time definitely helps my Bare Minerals last longer and look better. I was having trouble with the minerals not looking like they were blending into my skin, and this primer certainly helped..."
Ok, that's my two cents. Best of luck.

I have to tell you that I started using Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer about 4 years ago and I LOVE it! It is lighter than a foundation so it doesn't look cake-y and I use the translucent loose powder over it. Here's the trick though, its not really enough to be a moisturizer, so you still need to use one under it. They make an oil-free formula now too. I was never a foundation girl but once I tried this stuff I was hooked!
