Living Room Quandry

I just don't know what to do in here. The FIRST thing that must be decided is wall color. I do like the warm yellow that it is, but I don't know if it jives with our theme. Remember the very modern and angular couch that will be arriving next week?
Also need some ideas on what to do with that cubby hole? and some cool pillows for the couch because the ones that come with it are hideous.
You guys have given lots of neat ideas and feedback in the past so I am very interested in what you think about this room. Especially Jessidesign, Rebecca kelton & Celie. Please leave your comments in the comments section so that I can refer back to them when necc. Thanks!
Also remember that none of that furniture will remain that is in there now.

Yeah, new furniture is going to be cool. Paint is also good.

I like the paint that you have. But I think a sage green would be pretty too with your style. (something that can work with neutrals too)

I think that if its a color different enough from the couch, it will make the couch pop out more. Not a lighter color though. I don't know, though, I am a science teacher. Plus I don't remember what color the cough is!

go to ben. moore, and buy a fan book (all the colors) it's $15. I would get a color out of the historical colors section at the back. I think a medium taupe/gray would be great, or a medium brown. I would put two slipper chairs or side chairs on either side of the fireplace, and the sofa on opposite wall. I would stick to a FEW large accessories, instead of many small ones. Just enough to make a statement. I would do a simple mantle like a large round mirror above and maybe 2 oversized vases or hurricanes flanking on the floor. Wallpaper the back of that cubby with metallic paper (did you already do that) maybe glass shelves? I like that red footstool for a pop of color, and color on your pillows would be good too, but the rest could be tonal and neutral since your rug is also quite colorful.

I think you should put a monogram from the website you talked about Wonderful Graffiti in the cubby!
